What should I do if the bearing heats up? What is the reason?

This is an issue that many customers are very concerned about, as bearing heating and high temperature not only affect the lifespan of the bearing itself, but also cause damage to the machine, increasing maintenance costs. Today, UQT bearings will take a look at the common causes and solutions that cause bearing heating, and answer customer questions.

Common causes of high bearing temperature:

1) Poor lubrication, such as insufficient or excessive lubrication, unsatisfactory lubricating oil quality, deterioration, or presence of debris;

2) Insufficient cooling, such as blocked pipelines, improper selection of coolers, and poor cooling effect;

3) Abnormal bearings, such as damaged bearings, poor assembly process of bearings, and non compliant adjustment of clearances between various parts of the bearing box;

4) Large vibration, such as poor alignment process of the coupling that does not meet the requirements, dynamic and static imbalance of the rotor, poor foundation rigidity, weak foundation, rotational stall and surge.

When the temperature of the bearing increases, the first step is to determine whether there is a malfunction. If the temperature of a fully loaded cylindrical roller bearing does indeed increase, the following measures should be taken:

1) Check whether the cooling water pressure, water flow, and pipeline system are normal. If the water pressure is low, it may be due to filter blockage and cannot be dealt with in a timely manner. When it is confirmed that it can work, it can be shut down and put into use.

2) The oil pressure of the governor should be checked. If the oil pressure is low, it may cause the cooling water hydraulic valve to close.

3) Check if there is any abnormal noise in the bearings and check if there is any abnormality in the swing of the fully loaded cylindrical roller bearings.

4) Take an oil sample to observe if there is any change in the color of the oil, and conduct laboratory tests to see if it has deteriorated. If deterioration is confirmed, the machine should be shut down and replaced with new oil.

5) Check whether the oil level of the oil level gauge is normal. If it is not normal, check whether the oil drain valve of the oil tank is tightly closed. If it has been tightly closed, oil should be replenished. If the sealant pad leaks oil, it should be shut down for processing.
