What to do if the thrust ball bearing is installed incorrectly?

Plane thrust ball bearings mainly bear axial loads in assemblies and are widely used. Although the installation operation of thrust bearings is relatively simple, errors often occur during actual maintenance, such as incorrect installation positions of the bearing's shaft and seat rings, resulting in the bearing losing its function and the journal quickly being worn out.

When installing flat thrust ball bearings, the following points should be noted:

1. Distinguish the shaft ring and seat ring of the bearing (measure the inner diameter of the bearing to determine).

2. Distinguish between rotating parts and stationary parts of the equipment. Generally, the shaft is a rotating part and the bearing seat is a stationary part.

3. Regardless of the situation, the race of the bearing should always rest against the end face of the stationary part.

4. When installing a flat thrust ball bearing, the inner diameter of the shaft ring and the shaft (rotating part) are interference fit and rotate together. The outer diameter of the seat ring and the bearing seat (stationary part) are clearance fit, and the fit between the inner diameter of the seat ring and the shaft should maintain a certain clearance.

On many devices, NJ type (NJ307) and angular contact bearings (7307) are used in combination, with two angular contacts and one cylindrical roller bearing. Apart from structural differences, these two types of bearings have equal outer diameter, inner diameter, and width. Therefore, during equipment maintenance, regardless of whether the bearings are removed normally or damaged, the installation position, direction, and combination method of the bearings must be observed and recorded.

Only by using and installing flat thrust ball bearings correctly can the normal operation of the equipment be ensured, and it is also convenient to correctly judge and timely eliminate faults when the equipment experiences high vibration values and high temperatures.
